Preparing your Car for Sale!
|
|
Treat selling your car as you would your
house. Ok, so you can’t bake a fresh loaf, roast some
coffee beans or spruce up with the odd bunch of freshly cut
flowers, but you can make your old car more appealing.

It is Amazing How Many People Forget the
Basics.
Clean your Car!
The application of a spot of elbow grease,
and an investment in some products fit for the job, will do
wonders to your tired looking hatchback.
So, what should you do?
Inside
1. Empty the ashtrays and wipe clean
with a damp cloth.
2. Remove mats and shake out dust.
3. Wipe down and scrub any marks with an appropriate stain
remover.
4. Hoover the carpet and upholstery.
5. Use a damp cloth to help lift small dirt particles
trapped in the weave of the carpet.
6. Clean air vents out using a dry paintbrush.
7. Buy a deodoriser to freshen up the smell – a
vital move for smokers or those who carry their dogs on
a regular basis.
8. Clean the windows and glass. Try using a scrunched
up piece of newspaper dipped in vinegar to help remove
stains.
Outside
1. Always wash the car during an overcast
or cloudy day otherwise the sun will leave it streaky.
2. Rinse the car with clean water.
3. Wash using proper car shampoo and not washing up liquid.
4. Dry off using chamois leather.
5. Apply a wax gloss and buff.
6. Don’t forget the wheels! A sparkling set of alloys
will immediately catch the buyer’s eye.
7. If necessary, use a “back to black” trim
spray to return to that original showroom finish.
One thing to remember: Don’t
over do it, especially on older cars, as it gives
the impression of ‘too good to be true’.
